There may come a time when you will face the question of what to do to make different arrangements in your home to accommodate aging parents or perhaps your own changing circumstances. Hanlon Build has the expertise to help you create a comfortable home whatever the special needs to be addressed.

According to the National Association of Home Builders, a growing percentage of homeowners over the age of 50 plan to stay in their homes and their communities for as long as possible. An AARP survey concurred. It found that 83% of people over 45 own their own homes, and of those, 75% expect to remain in their current home for the rest of their lives. Of these, 51% are planning to make changes to make that possible.

Younger homeowners, too, are making “universal design” their standard of choice for all home remodeling. Many clients are becoming increasingly aware of aging in place accommodations and seeking solutions in their custom design build projects. Custom builders and home remodeling contractors report that 75% of their clients are looking for aging in place design when thinking about long-term needs. Amazingly, 43% of these clients were under the age of 55.

An aging in place home remodeling or building project can be quite cost-effective solution when you consider the cost of assisted living facilities, which start from $45,000 – $80,000 a year. When you look at that way, then the expense that goes into keeping one safely at home doesn’t begin to seem so costly.
